We’ve been coming to Masa for years and it’s still our favorite sushi spot in Stockton. The quality is always top notch—the fish is fresh, the rolls are consistently amazing, and you can tell they take pride in every dish they serve. The service is just as good. Everyone is friendly, attentive, and always makes us feel welcome. It’s one of those places you can count on every single time. Highly recommend if you’re looking for great sushi and even better service!

I cannot say enough amazing things about Masa Contemporary Japanese Lounge. From the moment you walk through those signature dark red curtains, you know you’re in for something truly special. The atmosphere is unlike anything else in Stockton — intimate, mysterious, and elegant, with a warm Edo-period aesthetic that makes every visit feel like an occasion. But the real stars here are the people. This is a family-owned gem run by genuinely passionate people who treat every guest like a friend. The owners introduce themselves personally, share honest recommendations, and go above and beyond to make sure your experience is perfect. The staff — shoutout to Jackie! — are attentive, knowledgeable, and full of warmth. You can feel the love they put into this place. Now, the food. Wow. The Last Samurai roll is an absolute showstopper — generous slices of fresh fish, crab, crispy cucumber, and fish eggs topped with a special sauce that keeps you coming back. The Brookside Baked Roll is rich, umami-packed perfection. The takoyaki is crispy on the outside, tender inside. And the oysters? Immaculately fresh. Don’t even get me started on the eel on a hot plate — a life-changing experience. T

First time here and the food and service was AMAZING!! The atmosphere was peaceful and the waitress was very attentive and kind. The food was also incredibly delicious.Would definitely recommend and come back.!

I was very pleased with my meal at Masa, the Ika Geso calamari starter was especially tasty. I can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu.

Masa Japanese Lounge is hands-down the best sushi I’ve ever had. Everything is incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The vibe is upscale but welcoming, and the service is always on point. They’re super family oriented and sweet people, and are so helpful, explaining every ingredient and every menu item. Whether you’re a sushi lover or just trying it out, this place sets the bar. 10/10 recommend! (The pictures don’t do it justice because we TORE them up, but just give this place a try, you won’t regret it!!!!)
